It can be overwhelming to feel the need to purchase something, doesn’t it?
It’s almost like you lose your logical thinking and feel that you need the item in your life now.
This can lead to clutter in your home, unpaid bills, and a small savings account.

These are some questions to ask yourself before you buy something.
1. Can I afford it?
Before you make a purchase, you should consider where your money will come from.
If you can afford it, that means you have enough money in your bank account to purchase the item.
To make the purchase, you don’t need to borrow money, take out a credit card, or withhold payment from a bill. Did you create a budget?
2. Do I have a suitable place for it?
Spending money isn’t something that bothers you. Maybe the clutter in your house is.
Make sure you know where your new purchase will be kept. It’s best to keep it safe and away from children.
3. Have I thought about buying this before?
Sometimes, we just see it in a store and assume we need it.
It’s unlikely that you will ever consider buying it if it’s not something you have considered before.
4. What length of time can I use it?
It’s not worth the cost to purchase an item if you don’t expect to use it often. A black sweater might be worn 100 times but not the one manicure.
This is a great question to consider before you buy food or drinks. You need to eat. But, it doesn’t have to be expensive.
Over the years, every $5 coffee or $8 cocktail adds up.
5. What are the hours I need to work to pay it off?
You can stop spending money if you work hard at your job. Is the cost of one meal out worth the time and effort it took to prepare it?
You might have been as content with something cheaper.
6. Do I have anything that can serve the same purpose already?
Think about the things you already have and see if any of them will work. You might be able to borrow it from someone or purchase it used.
7. If it doesn’t work, can I return it?
Sometimes, you may think you will love or use something but it isn’t.
You might reconsider buying the item if it is not possible to return it for a full refund. You shouldn’t buy anything just to return it.
If you have to return it, make sure you do.
