Although glowing, dewy skin is a popular trend, there are important distinctions between a natural glow and an oily complexion.

It can be difficult to manage oily skin, but if you use the right products and techniques, your skin will be a happy camper. Here are our top tips to make your makeup last all day with oily skin.

1. Use a scrub to exfoliate

If you have oily skin, exfoliating is a must. Exfoliation helps to control excess sebum and minimizes pores. A scrub is best for oily skin.

It will break down impurities and help wash them away. A scrub containing charcoal such as the Garnier Clean and Blackhead Eliminating Scrub can absorb excess oil. Be careful not to exfoliate too much as this can dry your skin and cause it to produce more oil.

2. Use a Gel-Based Moisturizer

Oily skin does not mean you should skip moisturizer. To hydrate your skin, use a gel-based moisturizer that is oil-free, such as Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel.

It will not leave it oily or greasy. The lightweight gel formula is formulated with glycerin, hyaluronic acids to lock in moisture.

3. Multi-Tasking Skincare

To ensure that your makeup is as smooth as possible, reduce the number of products you use. Multi-tasking skincare products such as a tinted primer and SPF can be used to reduce the number of products.

This will prevent the possibility of pilling from layering too many products.

4. A must-have Eye Primer

Oily skin can make concealer, mascara, and eyeshadow easy to smudge. An eye primer is a must-have.

It prepares your lids and creates a smooth base. Additionally, it brightens the eyes and prevents creasing.

5. The Right Foundation

You have two options when it comes to choosing the right foundation for oily skin: a powder or a mattifying liquid foundation like the NARS All Day Luminous Foundation.

It is oil-free and blends easily. Use a damp makeup sponge to apply powder foundation. For liquid foundation use a flat, stiff foundation brush. Your skin will be more oily if you use your fingers.

6. Use light layers

You can achieve a natural or glam look by not applying thick layers of concealer or foundation. Apply light layers to areas that need it, and only add more if you have trouble.

You won’t get a cakey look and your makeup will last longer if you go with lighter layers.

7. Sandbagging is a great technique.

We’ll explain sandbagging if you haven’t heard it. Sandbagging is all about absorbing grease and making your skin appear less oily. It’s very simple.

Apply your foundation and then use a sponge to apply loose powder. Concentrate on the area under your eyes and around your lips. Allow the powder to set for a while, allowing the oils to penetrate.

Then use a fluffy brush to remove any excess powder. This will ensure that those areas stay matte and smooth from morning to nighttime.

8. The Proper Setting Technique

To help your foundation last longer, spray setting spray before you apply your makeup. It will moisturize your skin and help to remove excess oil as well as keep your foundation in place.

After you have applied your foundation, you can use a setting powder to set it.

9. Use a lip liner

A creamy lipliner will keep your lipstick in place and protect it from bleed- or feathering.

This helps to preserve your lipstick and gives your lips a fuller appearance. For a youthful and perfect pout, choose a lip liner that is a little deeper than your lips’ shade.

10. Keep your Blotting Sheets handy

Blotting sheets are great for oily skin. Keep them in your bag for a quick touch-up during the day.

These sheets are convenient and can help reduce shine and absorb any oil buildup throughout the day. These have organic bamboo charcoal which will keep your skin naturally matte for hours.

11. You can add a clay face mask to your routine

Clay is great for oily and acne-prone skin as it absorbs excess oil. The Gleamin Vitamin C clay Mask contains yellow clay that balances the skin and clears pores.

It also includes turmeric to increase your skin’s natural glow and aloe vera to replenish skin moisture and boost skin healing. Use the provided brush to apply the mask evenly on your skin after your cleanse.

Allow the mask to dry for about 10 minutes. Rinse with warm water, and then dry it with a towel. For best results, apply the mask 2 to 3 times per week.

These tips and tricks will help you apply your makeup smoothly if you’ve got oily skin.
