Amazon Associates Program is also known as the Amazon Affiliate Program. It’s one of the best ways you can monetize your blog or website.
Sign up for Amazon’s Affiliate Marketing Program, get approved, then place Amazon affiliate links wherever you like and begin earning! It’s that simple, or is it? Let’s go on.
You can earn a commission if a visitor to your website clicks on the affiliate link and purchases products from Amazon.
Website or Blog, what do I Need?
To apply for Amazon Associate status, you will need to have a website or blog. To be approved by Amazon quickly, your site must be popular/live and have unique content. By checking this box, you will get the best results with Amazon simply because of your authenticity.
Before applying for the Amazon Associates program, I recommend that you start a blog, website, or YouTube channel. If you don’t have unique content (or content for that matter), you’ll have difficulty promoting their products, and it’s likely you won’t be able to earn a cent.
How do you start Amazon affiliate marketing?
I’m assuming you have a blog or website and that it is popular (has traffic and/or visitors).
Now it’s time for you to create an Amazon Associates account.
Scroll down to the bottom of the Amazon Associates homepage and click on ” Sign Up“. This will allow you create a new account, or sign in to an existing one.
1. Complete your Account Information with the Correct Details
To continue, fill in the name of the payee, including their address and phone number. Click Next.
2. Enter your website or blog address
Your website address, YouTube channel, or apps that you own is required for this step.
3. Make your profile
Create your preferred Associates Store ID (or your website name) as is required. You will also have to describe your websites, including your intentions, traffic, and other details.
4. Complete identity verification
You will need to fill in your phone number then wait for Amazon to contact you with a four-digit code that you’ll need to input in order to move to the next step. After you have completed that, click “Finish” to be approved.
5. Amazon Associates: Get Started
You can now submit your application for review. (half of the last step). It may take some time for you to receive a confirmation email from Amazon. Once received, you will need to finish up the final half of the last step. This is: to enter your payment and tax information. Once updated, you will now be able to receive payouts.
After completion of the above, you will be able to access your personal dashboard. This dashboard will display your earnings overview, monthly summary and total clicks.
How do I get an Amazon Affiliate link for a product?
- Switch to the ‘Browse For Product‘ Tab in your Dashboard or search for a product using the ‘Quick Links Search for Product‘ Tab. [ This option is soon to be eliminated]
- After you have found a product click the ” Get link” button.
- You can customize your link by selecting an “add with image and text, text-only, or image only widget”.
- Preview Your product link.
- Copy the link, short URL, or HTML copy, and place it on you site.
Updated Way: The easiest way to do this is to browse any Amazon.com product from the normal “Search Bar” and then copy the affiliate link by simply using SiteStrip. It is a horizontal widget at top of the page.
Note: Contrary to what you might have heard, Amazon does not like the use of URL shorteners besides the “short link” in Amazon itself. The use of these shorteners can lead to the suspension of your account.
Last Thoughts
Your Amazon Affiliate Marketing account will now be set for approval and complete confirmation for 180 days. In this period, you are expected to make at least 3 qualifying sales. If not, your account may be closed.
Tip 1: Do not call upon family and friends to make purchases with your links. Even if they do, they will not be counted among the 3. Amazon has a way of knowing the difference between forced and actual sales.
Tip 2: Make sure to always include the ” Amazon Associates Disclaimer” wherever to promote a product. This is a requirement by Amazon. Failure to do so can lead to the suspension of your account.
