Yikes. It doesn’t mean you have to stop having holiday fun. You can simply modify your holiday mishaps.

Holidays are a time for family and friends to get together to eat and have fun.

It is no surprise that it is harder to maintain a healthy weight during holidays than the rest of the year.

Holiday parties, cookie swaps, indulgent meals. It is no surprise that it is harder to maintain a healthy weight during holidays than the rest of the year.

Some studies show that the holidays are when most of your weight gain occurs.

1. Keep up with your regular workout routine

Although you may have been looking for something other than the obvious, your workouts should not be neglected. Keep as much of your workout routine as you can.

When it comes to exercising, most people have an “all-or-nothing” mentality. Let me tell you, this is my personal experience. It is important to keep to your exercise routine.

You should be more active because of the additional calories you’ll be eating.

2. Weigh Yourself Regularly

It can be helpful to weigh yourself regularly in order to stay on track. It is quite common to gain a few pounds during holidays.

You should weigh yourself at least once per week. Use the same scale every time. You should weigh yourself every week, at the beginning of the week.

Do this right after you have urinated or pooped, preferably before the start of the day. Your weight changes throughout the day depending on how much you eat and how often you pee.

The scale can be a helpful tool to help you stay on track. One of the secrets to staying on track is adhering to a diet.

They remind you to keep track of your weight throughout the wager. It helps me to stay focused and gives me something to work towards.

3. Don’t Go Crazy

You don’t have to be a holiday-goer to enjoy the freedom of eating whatever you want. Eat until you feel full.

Take a small portion of food and eat slowly. There will be many temptations during this holiday season. It will be easier to keep your goals in sight.

Enjoy your food but be mindful of what you eat. It doesn’t mean you have to skip the delicious food. Enjoy a slice of pie with your partner or even eat a small portion solo.

Just enjoy a few bites and then focus on eating healthy foods or low-calorie options.

4. Save Alcohol For the Party Only

After work, do you relax with a glass of wine or a mixed drink? Try to avoid alcohol during holidays. Alcohol has a lot of empty calories.

You will likely drink more alcohol over the weekend as you attend all the holiday parties. Avoid holiday weight gain by saving your alcohol calories for weekends with friends and loved ones.

Be careful to only drink moderate amounts of alcohol at all times. You can easily overeat unhealthy foods if you are drunk or hungover.

5. Do Not Arrive at the Holiday Party Hungry

You can keep your discipline by planning ahead. It is easy to get distracted by the temptation to eat everything at the party. This can lead you to overeat. Party food tastes best when you are hungry.

Eat a healthy snack before you leave. You can drink water if you arrive feeling hungry and just before you start to eat.

Put salads and vegetables instead of rich, creamy sauces and sides on your plate. These dishes are usually high in calories.

All things should be taken in moderation. It is possible to have a small amount of everything if you only eat small amounts.

6. Don’t stress

The holiday season is filled with joy. However, it can be difficult to keep up with family gatherings or pay for all the gifts.

Too much stress can cause overeating and sugar cravings, especially for sugary carbs. Obesity, stress, and eating habits are all connected.

It can be stressful, more than it is merry. It can be stressful to plan family events, make sure everyone is home on time, and search for the best holiday deals.

You’ll gain weight because stress can increase your body’s production of the fat-storing hormone Cortisol.

Try stress-relieving techniques if you feel overwhelmed by the holiday season.
